The Adidas Kenya Track Jacket Craze
Why is there an Adidas Kenya Track Jacket craze? Most kids seem to have this jacket in their closets and when you’re jogging in the city, you may see someone wearing this piece of clothing, jogging with you. What gives?
Well, to understand this, you need to acknowledge the contribution of Kenyan athletes to the track and field event. Kenyans excel in this event more than in any other Olympic field that there is, producing more than a handful of world renowned track athletes.
This started in the 60’s with Wilson Kiprugut Chuma when he won the bronze medal in the 800-meter dash in the 1964 Olympics held in Rome. He was followed by an equally great athlete, Kipchoge Keino, who made Kenya really popular in the field of track, raking in the gold medal for the 1500 meter event. Sadly though, in the recent years, some track events coordinators have tried to ban Kenyan runners from their events as they always end up winning.
With Kenya’s great name shining in the world of track and field, it was only very apt for Adidas to come up with the Adidas Kenya Track Jacket line so that Kenya track fans will have a chance to show how much they appreciate Kenya runners. The Adidas Kenya Track Jacket is black, with green, red and white details like the colors of the Kenya flag and it has the Kenya crest on its right chest area. It is a very urban looking jacket that is perfect for a run in your favorite park or just something to wear casually at school, home or at work.
